WHY DID I GO INTO MY PROFESSION?
Since I had no desire or inclination to be a teacher, physician, scientist, etc., what other niche would a young man with above average grades in science and mathematics be drawn to? The obvious choice for me was engineering. Following completion of my first 2 years, my likes and dislikes came into focus and I chose Civil Engineering as my major.
IF I COULD DO ANYTHING ELSE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Looking back after 43 years in civil engineering, there are certainly things I would do differently, but it is likely my choice would have remained in engineering. However, if you pushed me to consider or suggest an alternative, I might lean toward a trade such as an electrician. Push me some more, and I am going to pick sport fishing…., something with less stress and a different kind of excitement.
WHAT IS MY FAVORITE ____?
Quote: I enjoy Yogi-isms (Yogi Berra, not Bear). Since I grew up as a Pittsburgh Pirates fan, I remember the 1960 World Series when the Pirates beat the Yankees in 7 Games. Yogi was quoted “We made too many wrong mistakes”.
